Chris Ramsey says he understands Les Ferdinand's 'passion' for the club

Ferdinand is facing a misconduct charge after a post-match row with match officials following Rangers’ home defeat to Tottenham last week.

The Loftus Road club were left fuming by referee Craig Pawson’s decision to reject two strong penalty appeals.

Ferdinand has until 6pm tonight to respond to the charge.

And Rangers manager Ramsey said:  “When you are fighting for your lives and you have to strong penalty shouts, you expect people to be frustrated. And everybody was very upset he missed those shouts.

“He is very passionate about the club. We have lost a game we probably shouldn’t have lost and there were.

“We possibly could have had two penalties that could have gone significantly towards me keeping the job.”

Ramsey’s side face Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday lunchtime  desperate to close the three-point gap between themselves and safety.

Ramsey added: “Our aim is to make as many people be in the dog-fight as possible so we can take it as close to the end of the season as possible and give ourselves a big chance of staying in the league.
