The defender qualifies as a result of his grandfather and Jamaica authorities have already identified Rose as their leading English-born recruitment target ahead of this summer’s Copa America,

Earlier this season, Rose was called up by Roy Hodgson for the matches against Switzerland and Norway but as he was not used in either fixture he is still free to choose his international allegiance.

With England’s first-choice left-back Leighton Baines out with a thigh injury and Kieran Gibbs and Luke Shaw currently struggling for a regular club place, Rose will listen with interest to Hodgson’s squad announcement on Thursday for the forthcoming internationals against Lithuania and Italy.

“I have not spoken to him about Jamaica but so far this season he has been the best English left full-back this season,” he said.
