SOUTHAMPTON have handed Morgan Schneiderlin and Nathaniel Clyne double-their-money deals in a bid to keep them at St Mary's this summer.

French midfielder Schneiderlin and England full-back Clyne are set to be major transfer targets for big clubs at the end of this season.

Arsenal are long-time fans of Schneiderlin, while both Manchester United and Liverpool want England defender Clyne.

Schneiderlin is on about £30,000 a week but Saints are ready to double his wages with an extension to his current deal, which runs out in 2017.

Clyne is still on only about £25,000 a week but that deal is also set to be almost doubled as Saints push the boat out with wages that are unprecedented for the Hampshire club.

Saints face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday and a win would help their quest for a top-four place and Champions League football, which would make it easier to keep the duo.

Clyne, 23, is likely to be the easier to persuade to stay with the promise of regular first-team football, with prospects for that at Old Trafford and Anfield less than certain. His deal runs out next summer.
