The Baggies still do not know whether they will be able to play the Northern Irishman against Stoke on Saturday.

Brunt faces a two-match ban after a post-match blast at referee Anthony Taylor following Saturday’s FA Cup defeat by Aston Villa.

Albion are thought to be looking to get personal hearing for the player as they believe Brunt's outburst came in the heat of the moment after a controversial tie.

Brunt has just had run from the field following a pitch invasion following the defeat to their Midlands neighbours.

And Brunt and his team-mates were still angry about Taylor's decision to red card Claudio Yacob at a vital stage of the game.

Albion have until 6pm on Thursday to respond to the charge.

But it is likely that Brunt will want to answer it personally - and that is likely to free him for the clash against Mark Hughes' side.

Speaking on Thursday afternoon, boss Tony Pulis admitted the matter was still unresolved.

The Baggies manager said: “That’s with sporting director Richard Garlick and the powers that be.

“That’s in the if, buts and maybes for Saturday. We don’t know if he’ll be charged or if he’s banned.

“We’re not sure yet, they’re still talking.”
