Nastasic joins Schalke on a deal until 2019 after the German club activated his reported £7million release clause.

Nastasic has spent this season on loan with Schalke after falling out of favour with City boss Manuel Pellegrini.

And the 21-year-old is pleased to complete his move away from the Etihad.

"I am proud and happy that I remain a Schalke," he said. "The team did very well taken me from day one, I was immediately a part of the team.

"In the future I would like to help us to achieve our goals as a team."

Arsenal were linked with Nastasic last summer before his temporary switch to Schalke.
