Arsenal handed Aurier opportunity as PSG eye summer move for Chelsea star Azpilicueta

PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN will look to rekindle their interest in Chelsea's Cesar Azpilicueta in the summer, according to reports in France.

The French club are said to have made contact with Chelsea at the start of the season regarding a move for the Spanish defender.

It is claimed that PSG were ready to offer £8.5million to bring the former Marseille star back to Ligue 1.

But Chelsea's reluctance to sell - plus the constraints of Financial Fair Play after buying David Luiz in a £50m - scuppered a move, according to Le Parisien.

Instead, the Parc des Princes outfit took Arsenal target Serge Aurier on loan with the option of a permanent deal at the end of the season.

But the Ivory Coast international has struggled to displace Gregory van der Wiel in Laurent Blanc's first-team plans and could still be available in the summer.

And with Mathieu Debuchy struggling with various injuries this season, Arsene Wenger could yet be tempted to bring Aurier to the Emirates next term.
