Manchester United have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Porto full-back Danilo, who is on the verge of agreeing a switch to Real Madrid.

The 23-year-old is reportedly valued at £28.8million but in a shock twist Madrid appear to have got their man for half the price.

United were keen on the defender, as were Barcelona, but Nou Camp director of football Carles Rexach has revealed Madrid have secured a deal.

He said: "I’ve been told that he has already been signed by Real Madrid.

"But I don’t know for sure. That’s something for him to say."

Arsenal, meanwhile, are looking to land two United rejects in the summer transfer window.

Both Jonny Evans and Chris Smalling are expected to leave the club come July and the Gunners want to snap up the defensive duo, reports claim.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger wants to add further defensive recruits after bagging Gabriel Paulista in the January window.

Paul Pogba Player Profile

Chelsea and Manchester City's efforts to sign Paul Pogba have suffered a blow as Real Madrid reportedly negotiate a deal for the midfielder.

Pogba is valued at around £88m and is wanted by a host of top European clubs, including Chelsea and City.

But reports in Spain suggest Madrid have concluded secret meetings with Juventus bosses to secure a summer move of the 22-year-old.

And finally, Glen Johnson has revealed he has been in talks with foreign clubs regarding a move away from Liverpool.

The right-back has struggled for games in recent weeks as manager Brendan Rodgers sticks with his narrow three at the back.

Johnson said: “There are talks. It would be great for the kids to go abroad but I am not thinking about yet as we have two months left here and I’ll think about it after that. We will have to wait and see.”
