The 27-year-old has come under some heavy criticism in recent weeks due to a poor run of form, being substituted early on in the last two outings against Sunderland and Newcastle.

"I always like to play in big games when you have the chance to play against great players who are high in quality," the former Real Madrid and Benfica man said.
