Diego Costa snubbed interest from Liverpool before joining Chelsea

Chelsea ace Diego Costa turned down a move to Liverpool in 2013.

The Reds triggered Costa's £21m release clause but he snubbed interest from Anfield to sign a new contract with Atletico Madrid.

Chelsea then swooped for the Spanish international a year later with a £32m deal to bring him to Stamford Bridge.

"I was close to leaving Atletico," he said. "Liverpool are a great team, but after fighting so hard and overcoming difficulties to get my place at Atletico, how could I leave.

Paulo Dybala Player Profile

"I thought it was very important to keep growing with Atletico and to play there for many years."

Arsenal are ready to pay £29.5m for Palermo ace Paulo Dybala, according to reports in Spain.

The Gunners are said to be set to activate Dybala's release clause at the end of the season.
