The Red Devils great has overseen an indifferent campaign as assistant manager, although United lie fourth in the Premier League table.

United take on Arsenal this evening (7:45pm) in their FA Cup quarter-final clash with a semi-final spot and a trip to Wembley up for grabs.

And the club's most decorated player believes winning the FA Cup could provide a springboard to further success.

"Winning trophies just gives you confidence going into the next season. We have got title-winning form the last three months. We have proved it," Giggs told The Sun.

"You have to do it over nine months and that is difficult to do in a very tough league.

"But that will definitely be the aim next season.

"You have got to be sensible. It has been a bit of a turbulent couple of years. We were champions two years ago but it is going to take us a bit of time to get back to winning leagues.

"Without a shadow of a doubt that is the aim, it is not just about getting in the Champions League.

"That is the aim this season because we can't win the league, Chelsea are too far in front. If you win an FA Cup and get in the Champions League that is definitely, for me, a good season."
