Angel Di Maria moves shaken family into Phil Neville's £4m Manchester apartment

ANGEL DI MARIA has moved his unsettled family into Phil Neville's £4million Manchester apartment.

Manchester United winger Di Maria has struggled for form recently after he and his family were the victims of an attempted burglary earlier this year.

Di Maria, his wife Jorgelina Cardoso and one-year-old daughter Mia were eating dinner at their home in Prestbury, Cheshire, when three raiders tried to break in.

The Argentina international, signed for £59.7m from Real Madrid this summer, has been living in a hotel since.

But last week Di Maria moved his shaken wife and daughter into former United star Neville's 45th floor apartment in the middle of Manchester.

Neville's brother Gary believes the burglary has had a big effect on Di Maria and the task of him settling at United.

"There are reasons and there are excuses and it is a case of sifting through them to identify the genuine mitigating factors that have left us questioning his performances since arriving as the most expensive player in British football history," he wrote in his column for The Telegraph.

"Unquestionably, the burglary of Di Maria's house at the end of January will have affected him and his family.

"He is in a new environment, does not have a particularly good grasp of English and he and his family have been unnerved by a break-in which has left him looking for somewhere else to live.

"No matter what your profession or where you live, you cannot overstate the psychological impact of having your home breached by an intruder."

Neville also believes the 27-year-old not wanting to leave the Bernabeu last summer has had a part to play in his struggles in England.

"So he has come to United when he did not want to leave Madrid, has suffered the trauma of a burglary, and started to work for a new manager while playing in a team that is still in a 'storm' phase of development," he added.
