The Saints have offered the French international £60,000-a-week to extend his stay at St Mary's.

And Arsenal were reportedly reconsidering their need for the 25-year-old following the emergence of Francis Coquelin in recent weeks.

Morgan Schneiderlin remains keen on a move to Arsenal

The Mail suggest however that Arsene Wenger remains keen on a deal and are willing to offer £25million to push through a move.

The Gunners are also reportedly willing to offer Schneiderlin a better salary than that on offer at Southampton, and are likely to have the added incentive of Champions League football.

Indeed, it is thought that Schneiderlin has had his heart set on a move to the north London club ever since becoming aware of their interest last summer.
