Ben Foster called for calm

Villa fans staged two separate pitch invasions - one before the final whistle - after beating the Baggies 2-0 to advance to the semi-finals of the FA Cup.

There were also suggestions that West Brom fans had thrown seats towards Villa fans during the match.

Villa captain Fabian Delph described the scenes as scary and claimed he had been bitten by over-enthusiastic supporters.

PLEASE just get home safe everyone. Stupid scenes..

And Foster took to Twitter to urge calm, saying: "PLEASE just get home safe everyone. Stupid scenes.."

Baggies boss Tony Pulis agreed, telling the BBC: "It's disgraceful. We don't want to see those scenes. They've beaten us and for that to happen, that's just mindless idiots.

"If you're Villa, you need to look at the stewards as they came over to our fans and there was nobody there."

One man who was very eager to take Foster's advice, however, was a linesman, whose speed in escaping the oncoming pitch invasion has gone viral on the internet.
