Arsene Wenger will leave Arsenal in an envious position

Wenger signed a new three-year contract last May following months of speculation after Arsenal won the FA Cup last season.

After losing their Champions League last-16 first leg 3-1 to Monaco, critics have called on the Frenchman to consider his position as manager.

But the 65-year-old believes that when he does leave, the successor will find a club in a position to "deliver something exceptional".

He told the BBC: "In a strong healthy position which means a club that has good players, good youth behind them and a strong financial position to go further up and develop even more.

"And I will do that, you can believe me.

"The guy who comes in after me is in a very strong position to deliver something exceptional."
