With England manager Roy Hodgson watching in the stands, Kane once again showed his goalscoring prowess to maintain Tottenham's push for the Champions League.

But QPR's fourth consecutive home defeat leaves them in the relegation zone, three points adrift of Aston Villa.

QPR started the game brightly with top scorer Charlie Austin hitting the woodwork but Spurs soon took over and grabbed the lead in the 34th minute when Kane met a free kick from Andros Townsend and nodded past the onrushing Rob Green.

Spurs went into half time with the lead and came narrowly close to extending it straight after the break when a shot by Christian Eriksen hit the post and Kane put the rebound wide.

However, Kane wasn't forced to wait too long for his second goal, as he capitalised on poor defending to round Green and slot home in the 68th minute.

Chris Ramsey's side refused to give up and they reduced the deficit when Sandro grabbed a goal against his former club to set up a grandstand finish with 15 minutes left.

But QPR were unable to develop enough momentum and Spurs comfortably defended their lead to make it two wins in four days.
