CHELSEA owner Roman Abramovich was left out in the cold on Wednesday night because he was worried his jeans wouldn't be smart enough for the West Ham boardroom.

Roman Abramovich was worried about his dress sense at West Ham

The Russian billionaire was in attendance as Chelsea saw off the Hammers 1-0 in midweek.

But his concerns about breaking the dress code mean he was cagey about accepting West Ham's hospitality.

He was wearing jeans, which is against etiquette.

And it took a personal plea from West Ham vice-chairwoman Karren Brady to change his mind.

Writing in her column in The Sun, Brady said: "He'd arrived at Upton Park and it turned out he was sitting in the cold as he had not wished to enter our boardroom because his flight had been delayed and he was wearing jeans, which is against etiquette.

"'I do it often,' I tell one of his security team and Abramovich joins us."
