Liverpool are reportedly looking to land Lucas Vazquez

The 23-year-old is currently out on loan at Espanyol, where he has scored twice in 19 La Liga appearances.

The Catalan club have the option to sign Vazquez on a permanent deal at the end of the season, but reports in Spain claim that Liverpool have joined the race for his signature.

The winger himself is said to be keen on an Anfield switch, and Carlo Ancelotti is happy for the player to decide where his future in football lies.

It is claimed that Madrid are holding out for at least £7m from the Reds, who already have a number of wide-men at the club.

However, with Rodgers implementing a new 3-4-3 formation, Vazquez would provide good cover on either flank, and could be a potential replacement for Glen Johnson, whose contract on Merseyside is set to expire shortly.
