Jonas Gutierrez returned to action for Newcastle last night

The versatile Argentine took to the field at St James' Park for his first appearance in 17 months as the Red Devils grabbed a late winner through Ashley Young.

Gutierrez revealed in September 2014 that he was being treated for testicular cancer, and his return to action was greeted with rapturous applause from all in the stadium.

The Magpies faithful gave Gutierrez a standing ovation as he was handed the captain's armband by Fabricio Coloccini, and the 31-year-old has revealed that he will never forget that moment for the rest of his life.

"I'm really happy with that and the support the fans gave me and the support through the illness.
