Abou Diaby's playing career at Arsenal has been blighted by back-to-back injuries

Arsene Wenger is planning to bring an end to injury-plagued Abou Diaby's Arsenal career, according to The Sun.

The Arsenal boss said: "The only thing I can say about Diaby is that he progresses well in training. He goes step by step but is not yet in a position to play.

"I will have to talk to him soon about his contract. I plan to do that this month."

The report also suggests that the Frenchman could be joined in leaving by either Mikel Arteta or Mathieu Flamini, to make way for a major summer spending spree.

With Per Mertesacker's Arsenal future also in doubt, reports in France suggest that Wenger may be eyeing a move for Samuel Umtiti.

The Lyon defender has had an impressive season so far in Ligue 1, with Les Gones currently sitting top of the table.

Arsenal have also been given a boost in their attempts to sign Porto striker Jackson Martinez.

The Metro claim that Arsenal will make a £25.4million bid for the hitman which they're confident will be accepted.

Martinez has also attracted interest from rivals Tottenham and Liverpool and has scored an impressive 26 goals in 31 appearances this season.
