Arsenal poised to make summer approach for Lyon's French youth defender Samuel Umtiti

The 21-year-old French youth international is on Arsene Wenger's radar, according to the Metro.

Wenger signed Gabriel Paulista in the January transfer window but is still short in defence with Per Mertesacker under fire in recent weeks.

Arsenal, whose three wins on the bounce has seen them move into third, face QPR tonight with designs on challenging Manchester City for second spot.

Umtiti has progressed up the ranks at Lyon, making his first team debut in 2011, and has played 25 of their 27 league games this term.

Lyon currently lead PSG by a point at the top of Ligue 1.
