Juan Mata to fight for Manchester United future

JUAN MATA intends to remain at Manchester United and fight for a first-team place despite interest from Atletico Madrid and Valencia.

Juan Mata - Player Profile

According to the Sun, the Spanish playmaker is determined to win round manager Louis van Gaal and earn himself a role as a regular member of the starting XI.

Mata has found himself on the bench numerous times this season as Van Gaal attempts to fit Wayne Rooney, Radamel Falcao and Robin van Persie on the field all at the same time.

However, an injury to the latter could give Mata a way back in to his favourite No10 role behind the strikers.

Juan Mata is ready to fight for his future at Man Utd

The former Real Madrid youngster has been linked in recent times with a La Liga return, with both Atletico and old side Valencia preparing bids of £29m for his services.

Despite the interest, Mata is adamant that he will stay at Old Trafford this summer after an acrimonious departure from Chelsea over a year ago.

The 26-year-old has made 22 appearances this season, scoring six goals in total.
