Brendan Rodgers Manager Profile

Brendan Rodgers has admitted he feared for his job at Liverpool.

Following a 3-1 defeat to Crystal Palace on November 23, the Kop boss was worried about his future.

"After that Palace game I felt that it doesn't matter how much support you have, the team is not functioning and it could not go on really," he said.

"But I certainly wasn't going to roll over and die. I will always fight for my life. I love it here and I want to be successful here."

Liverpool are interested in Villarreal hot-shot Luciano Vietto

Liverpool are reportedly poised to swoop for Villarreal striker Luciano Vietto.

According to Vietto's agent Jorge Cysterpiller, the Reds are keen on the 21-year-old who has been hailed as 'the new Sergio Aguero'.

"We know that a lot of big clubs are watching Luciano Vietto," he said. "There is a lot of competition for him. He could sign for Liverpool, we know that he is admired by the Reds, as well as Real Madrid and two Bundesliga clubs. I think he could leave Villarreal in the summer."

Spanish sports paper AS claim Real Madrid are also interested in Vietto, who has a reported £7.25m release clause.
