Championship Round-up: Middlesbrough go top as Derby falter again

MIDDLESBROUGH leapfrogged Derby at the top of the table thanks to a 3-0 win over Millwall at the Riverside.

Patrick Bamford put the home side ahead in the 26th minute, before Kike added a second four minutes later to leave the Lions deep in relegation trouble.

Jelle Vossen rounded things off with a goal 12 minutes from time. 

Watford kept up the pressure on the automatic promotion hopefuls with a 1-0 victory over Fulham at Vicarage Road, Troy Deeney scoring the winner after just nine minutes.

Bournemouth stayed in the play-off hunt with a 2-1 win over Wolves.

Yann Kermorgant hit the target twice for the Cherries, including one from the penalty spot in the 49th minute.

At the other end of the table, Rotherham missed out on putting some distance between themselves and the relegation places after they were beaten 3-1 by Cardiff.

Bruno Ecuele Manga, Federico Macheda and Conor McAleny – on loan from Everton – were all on the scoresheet for the Bluebirds.

Another on-loan Everton player, Chris Long, netted twice for Brentford as they thumped Huddersfield 4-1.

Dougie Freedman tasted defeat for the first time as Nottingham Forest manager as Charlton won 2-1 at the Valley.

Jamie Mackie saved Reading with a late equaliser against Bolton, after Eidur Gudjohnsen had put the home team ahead.
