Arsenal are reportedly leading the chase for £70million Paul Pogba

According to the Metro, Arsene Wenger is a big fan of the 21-year-old.

And Arsenal's attempts to hire Juventus director Fabio Paratici are claimed to be a key factor in luring Pogba to the Emirates.

However, the highly-rated midfielder will not come cheaply, with a £70million price tag placed on his head by Juve.

Per Mertesacker could be on his way out of North London, reports the Daily Star, after a string of unconvincing appearances for the Gunners.

The 30-year-old, who joined Arsenal in 2011, has struggled this term and was dropped in Sunday's 2-0 win over Everton.

New signing Gabriel Paulista has stepped into the breach and could now make it difficult for the German to return.

And Arsenal legend Martin Keown has suggested that Mertesacker looks 'under pressure' and believes Wenger has the 'necessary players to replace him'.

Winston Reid - Player Profile

Arsenal target Winston Reid has opened contract talks with West Ham, according to the Daily Mail.

It's suggested that the New Zealand international has had a change of heart and is now considering penning a new deal at Upton Park.

Arsene Wenger had reportedly lined up a £4million bid for the centre-back in Januray, before opting for Paulista.

Jack Wilshere's injury-plagued season continues as surgery on an ankle problem is set to force him out of the FA Cup clash with Manchester United.

Wenger refused to put an exact date on his return, saying that it would take 'some time' for Wilshere's operation to heal.

The midfield man has been sidelined since picking up the injury in a 2-1 defeat to United in November, and has made just nine appearances for the Gunners this term in the league.
