Louis van Gaal plots SHOCK Angel Di Maria swap deal for Liverpool target Ezequiel Lavezzi

MANCHESTER UNITED are reportedly considering using Angel Di Maria as a bargaining chip to beat Liverpool to Paris Saint-Germain forward Ezequiel Lavezzi in the summer.

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers tried to land the 29-year-old Lavezzi last summer and also made an enquiry into his availability in January.

The Argentina international was determined to see the season out at the Parc des Princes, but is destined to leave in the summer.

And now - according to reports in Spain - United manager Louis van Gaal is eyeing up a move for his services.

It is claimed the Dutchman is even prepared to include record signing Di Maria in the deal.

The 27-year-old winger has struggled for form since picking up a couple of hamstring complaints in December, ending an impressive start of three goals and six assists in his first 10 outings.

PSG are long-term admirers of the former Real Madrid and Benfica star, who arrived at Old Trafford for £59.7m.

Di Maria has already expressed a desire to move to the French capital one day, and admits he only missed out on joining in the summer due to the club's Financial Fair Play problems.

"PSG, they had a money problem and they couldn’t buy players," he said.

"It could have been a good experience for me to go to Paris.
