Arsenal are hopeful of a deal for Christoph Kramer

The Gunners are expected to bulk up their midfield when the transfer window re-opens, despite the impressive form of Francois Coquelin.

And Kramer, a World Cup winner in Brazil, is among the names Arsene Wenger will consider, according to reports in Spain.

The 24-year-old Bayer Leverkusen midfielder is on loan at Borussia Monchengladbach and has a contract until 2019.

But having never represented Leverkusen, despite being there since the age of nine, speculation remains suggesting he could leave.

Arsenal have been linked with a number of players for the summer, including Southampton's Morgan Schneiderlin and Sami Khedira.

The Gunners overtook Manchester United in third place with a win over Everton yesterday and are now just four points off Manchester City in second.
