Rodgers' side face the relegation-embattled Clarets on Wednesday night seeking another victory after beating Manchester City at the weekend.

The Reds have moved up to fifth in the Premier League, but fortunes couldn't be much worse for Burnley.

They sit in the relegation zone on goal difference and have are winless in six league outings, claiming just two points from a possible 18.

Dyche himself has admitted the enormity of the task ahead to keep Burnley in the English top flight and Rodgers has come out in praise of the 43-year-old former Watford manager.

"We know they are a good side, we had a very close result over Christmas," Rodgers said.

"Sean is very talented. They have gone away from home in big games and got good results.

"Burnley have given everything for the cause. Sean will be up there among the candidates for manager of the year."
