Petr Cech reveals emotions at being picked for Chelsea's League Cup final win

CHELSEA goalkeeper Petr Cech says the memories came flooding back when he was picked to start in yesterday's League Cup final at Wembley.

Cech joined Chelsea in 2004 and won his first English trophy - the League Cup - in February the following year.

A decade on and he started again for the Blues, this time above regular first-choice goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.

And the Czech stopper explained his shock at not only winning a third League Cup trophy but being selected by manager Jose Mourinho to go between the sticks.

"Ten years ago it was my first cup and now I have a third one," Cech told chelseafc.com.

"Obviously I was delighted to be picked for the final. It’s always difficult for those who aren’t picked but you can see we are a team and everybody is enjoying the success.

"When you play a final you are all aware that history only remembers the winners. We wanted to win and in a few years’ time nobody will remember who we beat. It will just be our name there."

In the end it was a fairly uneventful game for Cech, who had to gather just two Tottenham shots on target.
