The 24-year-old forced his way into Joachim Low's German national team plans late last year after some impressive displays in the Bundesliga.

And while the youngster has just put pen to paper on a new deal that would see him remain at the BayArena, United are determined to win the race for Bellarabi.

Reports in Spain suggest that Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea are all tracking the player's progress but Louis van Gaal is believed to see Bellarabi as a potential star of the future at a bargain price.

It is claimed that the player's latest contract includes a clause - valid until next summer - that means he can leave for just £11m.

However, Van Gaal may need to work his magic to persuade the player to make the switch to Old Trafford after Bellarabi said he was keen to repay Leverkusen for the faith they have showed in him.

On signing his new deal, Bellarabi said: "I have made a big step in the current season under coach Roger Schmidt - a huge step in my development.

"Under his guidance, and in his system I've become a much better player.

"Such confidence from Roger Schmidt, I've never enjoyed. I will do anything to repay him and Bayer 04 Leverkusen."
