Jovetic, 25, has scored just five goals in 14 starts for City this season and fell further down Manuel Pellegrini's forward pecking order last month when Wilfried Bony arrived at the club.

He is expected to leave the Etihad this summer after failing to impress since his £22million transfer from Fiorentina back in 2013.

And the Mirror claim his next club could be closer to home than expected.

For Liverpool are reportedly considering an offer for the player, who they no doubt value at a far lower figure than what City paid for him less than two years ago.

Both Milan and Juventus are interested in the forward but neither can realistically compete with the Premier League wages Liverpool can offer.

And, with Mario Balotelli expected to leave Anfield this summer, Jovetic is a favourite to fill his place in Brendan Rodgers' attack.
