Samir Handanovic's contract expires next summer

Slovenian Handanovic is set to leave the San Siro club this summer, with both United and Premier League rivals Liverpool reportedly interested.

The 30-year-old's contract expires at the end of next season, meaning he will be a free agent as early as January 2016.

But Inter would much rather cash in on the player this July and have rejected his £40,000-a-week wage demands.

Instead, they will bid for former Liverpool ace Pepe Reina - claim Sky Sport Italia.

Spaniard Reina has grown frustrated at the lack of opportunity at Bayern Munich, where he currently sits behind Manuel Neuer in the pecking order between the sticks.

Reina is seeking a new club and Inter appear the obvious destination for a goalkeeper that still holds Spain international hopes.

And his arrival would push Handanovic out the door, with United seeking a replacement for David de Gea should Real Madrid pick up their pursuit of the Old Trafford number one once again this pre-season.
