However, there appears little chance of the Spaniard returning to Anfield as two Italian giants line up offers for his services.

According to Sky Sport Italia, both Napoli and Inter will place bids for Reina, who has grown discontented with the lack of opportunities at Bayern.

The Munich number two - behind Germany stopper Manuel Neuer - is reportedly seeking to leave the Bundesliga club come the summer.

Napoli seem the obvious option with former Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez currently at the club Reina spent a season on loan at last campaign.

But Benitez's own future is in doubt - with some reports linking him with a switch back to Merseyside this summer - while Napoli would also have to shed in-form goalkeeper Neto to bring Reina in.

Inter, meanwhile, appear ready to cut ties with Samir Handanovic - their current number one - and so can offer Reina the promise of first-team football.
