Manchester United reportedly want PSG ace Edinson Cavani

Manchester United's pursuit of PSG striker Edinson Cavani has suffered a major blow - but it's good news for Arsenal and Liverpool.

The Uruguayan hitman is one of a number of forwards manager Louis van Gaal is aiming to replace Radamel Falcao with.

But the Reds Devils may struggle to land the forward as Atletico Madrid begin plotting to lure him to Spain.

According to reports, Atletico are ready to sell Mario Mandzukic and Arda Turan to finance the deal.

That could be a major boost for both Arsenal and Liverpool, who are seeking attacking reinforcements in the summer and are known suitors of both players.

Meanwhile, another United target - Dani Alves - appears one step closer to joining Van Gaal at Old Trafford.

This is after Barcelona manager Luis Enrique refused to be drawn into questions regarding the right-back's contract negotiations.

Alves is free to leave Barca in the summer and has already reportedly discussed a £100,000-a-week, three-year contract with United.

And while Enrique was full of praise for his defender, he stopped short on revealing the details of fresh contract talks with Alves.

He said: “My team selections show I have confidence in Alves. He’s a unique player and the appropriate people will make a decision [on his renewal]."

And finally, Barcelona appear to be in pole position to sign Juventus ace Paul Pogba - much to Chelsea's frustration.

The £80million-rated defensive midfielder has already rejected the idea of returning to Manchester United - the club he left for Italy in 2012.

Chelsea are favourites in the Premier League to sign the Frenchman but it appears Barca, despite their transfer embargo, will land Pogba in January 2016.
