CAPITAL ONE CUP FINAL: Graham Roberts analyses where the game will be won and lost

GRAHAM ROBERTS, the former Chelsea and Tottenham captain, analyses the key areas of tomorrow’s game.

Costa KaneGETTY

Diego Costa and Harry Kane will lead the line for Chelsea and Spurs

THE STRIKERS

Harry Kane and Diego Costa

“I would have loved to play against Costa. He would give you a battle. You know what you are getting. But Harry also doesn’t leave you alone. Even when you are on the ball, he’s always around you. That is what has come out this season for Spurs. He has brought enthusiasm and life into the team because he doesn’t give defenders a second of peace.

“Harry is very, very quick. Any ball over the top you know he is going to have a great chance to win it.

“Harry will frighten anyone. He has scored and scored and that breeds confidence in a player. What it has also brought is team spirit where before, there wasn’t that togetherness.

“Costa is my type of player. I love a battle. Me and him, I don’t know if we would have stayed on the pitch, but we would have had a great battle.”

THE DEFENDERS

Gary Cahill and John Terry

Chelsea v Tottenham - League Cup Final Preview

“Cahill had a day he would want to forget when Chelsea lost 5-3 at Spurs. In fact, if Cahill and John Terry play together, Tottenham will have a great chance. I don’t think Cahill is playing to his best at the moment. That game knocked him back. Mourinho obviously thought that because brought the young boy Kurt Zouma in. He is a good player, a talented boy. But a cup final might be a different matter.

“Terry is unbelievable. He’s been the best centre-half in British football for a long time. John giving up England has helped him – he’s not got that pressure now.

“He is a great captain. If Ledley King would not have been so injury prone he and Terry would probably have been England’s centre-back partnership for years.”

THE MIDFIELD

“Nemanja Matic is a massive miss for Chelsea. He has been absolutely crucial for them this season. But Willian, Oscar and Hazard, who play behind Costa, all contribute with goals. They will create chances. There will be goals in this game.”
