The England Under-21 international has made 11 first-team outings this term after Louis van Gaal handed him his debut in the opening game against Swansea.

And the Red Devils boss believes he has the potential to become a 'great defender' at Old Trafford.

Van Gaal said: "I am delighted that Tyler has signed a new contract. He is another young player that has risen through the Academy system to break into the first-team squad this season.
