TRANSFER NEWS: Arsenal's Khedira rivals, £6m Liverpool full-back, Chelsea lose midfielder

EXPRESS SPORT brings you the latest transfer news.

Sami Khedira Player Profile

Arsenal and Chelsea have been joined by Schalke in the race to sign Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira.

The Germany international is set to leave the Bernabeu in the summer after failing to hold down a place in Carlo Ancelotti's regular XI.

And newspaper Bild claim Schalke will bid for the former Stuttgart ace in the hope he favours a move to his home country over the Premier League.

Liverpool, meanwhile, are hoping to hijack Roma's £6million bid for left-back Adriano.

The 30-year-old Barcelona player has been a peripheral figure at the Nou Camp this season and could be sold by the Catalan giants.

Roma are continuing to search for new talents as they prepare an assault on the Serie A title next season and know rivals Juventus will strengthen in the summer.

Therefore, they are reportedly ready to bid big for Adriano, which could go beyond what Liverpool are willing to pay for a back-up full-back for Alberto Moreno.

Chelsea have confirmed the departure of midfielder Lewis Baker to MK Dons.

The 19-year-old has agreed a loan deal with the League One club until the end of the season.

And finally, PSG forward Ezequiel Lavezzi appears ready to snub interest from Arsenal and Liverpool after his agent held talks with Inter bosses on Tuesday.

The two parties have reportedly agreed a verbal transfer and a deal should be all-but confirmed by the time the transfer window opens.

Lavezzi himself had some interesting comments to make about his career, stating: "Sometimes I think about giving it all up. It's a thought running through my head today, not just in the past.

"Once I leave football, I will not continue in the world of sport. Right now I don't know what I might do."
