Tyler Blackett has made just 10 appearances for Man Utd this season

Blackett has not impressed during his first regular season at Old Trafford, having helped keep just three clean sheets in 10 appearances and earning himself a red card.

The 20-year-old has not played since 11 January, leading to reports in the Manchester Evening News that he will be let go in the summer alongside Andreas Pereira, Reece James, Will Keane, Tom Thorpe.

All five players are out of contract at the end of the season.

But United are reportedly lining up a replacement for Blackeet in Tuanzebe, a Congolese-born 17-year-old brought up in Rochdale, who has caught manager Louis van Gaal's eye.

"He's a very, very good player," United Academy adviser Les Kershaw said of Tuanzebe. "And is one of them that I really like because he has a strong personality."

Van Gaal himself has expressed in the past his determination to give youth players a chance and even suggested a new without first-team experience would join the squad for their pre-season tour come July.
