Arsenal and Chelsea attract limited support

Research conducted by Swedish-based fan app Forza Football shows that Juve are the most popular club left in the continental competition in 21 out of the 45 UEFA countries.

Barcelona are the next most popular, with fans from 11 countries identifying the Catalan outfit as their preferred winner.

According to the research, published today in the Wall Street Journal, neither Chelsea nor Arsenal have much appeal on the other side of the channel.

Juventus are Europe's favourite team

Real Madrid share the indignity of failing to be the most popular team in their own country, but still have plenty of fans in Hungary, Luxembourg, Turkey and Croatia.

But spare a thought for Manchester City, whose push to become a global powerhouse has failed - at least for the time being - to attract widespread support abroad.
