Dougie Freedman's future in doubt as Nottingham Forest chairman issues sack warning

NOTTINGHAM FOREST chairman Fawaz Al Hasawi last night admitted he could part company with new manager Dougie Freedman at the end of the season - after just three months in charge.

Dougie Freedman's job is under threat despite his short tenure

The Scot, 40, is already the Kuwaiti owner's seventh manager in just two-and-a-half years at the City Ground.

He was appointed only hours after Stuart Pearce was axed as boss but Al Hasawi claims he has only agreed a deal until the end of the season.

Al Hasawi has watched Freedman claim seven points from his first three games and said: "We signed with him only for three months. In the end we will decide between the both of us whether he will continue for next season. But he wanted it to be like that.

"Dougie was available and said to me 'if you like my work you can tell me.' It seems like he is doing a good job.

If he is not doing well would we want to keep him?

"I would like him to stay and want to see good results for Forest."

It had initially been suggested that Freedman has signed an 18-month contract at the club.

But Al Hasawi said: "We only have three months although there is an option of another year. I hope he will stay at the club 10 years.

"I don't want him to leave Forest if he is doing well.
