Manchester United Transfer News: Alves contract talks, Falcao deadline, Hummels latest

MANCHESTER UNITED are closing in on the signing of Dani Alves.

The Barcelona star is set to leave the Nou Camp at the end of the season when he will become a free agent.

Previous reports suggested that Alves' representatives have held talks with United over a £100,000-a-week, three-year contract for the Brazilian, and his agent Dinorah Santana claims a move could be finalised soon.

"We're close to signing for another club, talks are underway," she told RAC1.

"Dani is still available [for renewal], but we don't expect much else [from Barca]."

The Red Devils are yet to make a decision over Radamel Falcao's future.

Falcao, who is on a season-long loan at the club, has hit just four goals in 20 appearances.

Though it was thought United would not exercise the option to sign Falcao on a £43m permanent deal, reports are now suggesting Louis van Gaal will wait until May before making his mind up.

Van Gaal may plump for a move for Mats Hummels in the summer, should he give up on Stefan Savic.

The Red Devils are looking to add a world-class centre half to their ranks, with Hummels their top target.

Though Hummels would fetch around £30m, Italian publication Tuttomercatoweb claims that a move for the Borussia Dortmund defender could be completed if Van Gaal passes up the opportunity to sign Savic.
