Alvaro Arbeloa is on his way out of Real Madrid this summer as the club lines up a move for Danilo

The former Anfield hero has become a bit-part player under Carlo Ancelotti following the rise of Dani Carvajal, and was tipped to make an exit in January.

Arbeloa made 98 appearances for Liverpool before returning to the Santiago Bernabeu for a bargain £5m in 2009, going on to claim Champions League, La Liga and Copa del Rey trophies.

However, the 32-year-old is now deemed surplus to requirements after Madrid identified a new defender to put pressure on Carvajal next season.

Marca reports that Porto's Brazilian star Danilo is the man to replace Arbeloa, although Real will be forced the splash to cash in order to secure his signature.

With Mourinho a boundary was crossed and at times he got so close that he was like a friend or parent to us

The 23-year-old's arrival will likely prompt Jose Mourinho, Arsene Wenger and Brendan Rodgers to make offers for Arbeloa at the end of the season, with the Spaniard admitting that he is still regularly in touch with the Chelsea boss after their time together in the capital.

Arbeloa revealed: "With Mourinho a boundary was crossed and at times he got so close that he was like a friend or parent to us.

"He is enjoying himself now [at Chelsea] and I still talk to him, although I have a very good relationship with all my coaches, but I had good times with Mourinho.

"He protected us, stood up for us, and we thanked him for sticking his neck out and taking the bullets. 'Mourinhismo' is a way of being, of doing things, always putting yourself forward, defending your ideas to the death, being honest, upstanding."
