Louis van Gaal branded Manchester United's win over Burnley as "lucky"

The United manager said he heard whistling from some supporters in the first-half as his side were fortunate to head into the interval with a lead over Sean Dyche’s side.

“It is a concern because we are playing for the fans,” said Van Gaal. “The fans are the most important part of the club. They keep the club living. They applauded after the match, so always the match is 90 minutes not 45 minutes.

“We were lucky today and if we have this again we will be out of the FA Cup (against Preston). We have to forget this match because it was not the best.”

Burnley, whose last win at Old Trafford came in 1962, remain entrenched in the bottom three and manager Sean Dyche said: “It's a tough business we are in and this game can sometimes kick you in the rear.

“Everyone in the stadium is probably scratching their heads on why we came away with nothing. We are frustrated we haven’t got more points, but there is a future in how we are playing.”
