The heat's on Paul Lambert as Aston Villa go another game without scoring
ANOTHER defeat and another game without scoring piled on the pain and the pressure for Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert yesterday.
Aston Villa have failed to score in over eight hours of football
They lost 2-0 at home to Liverpool and, even though an expected supporters’ protest proved to be a damp squib, Lambert conceded his team are in a dogfight to survive in the Premier League.
It won’t get any easier with the next two league matches away to Arsenal and home to Chelsea – and Lambert said: “It’s been a battle for three, four, five years at this club.
“You meet it head on. You don’t wilt under it. A club of this size shouldn’t be in this position and nobody likes it – the manager, the chairman, the players, the supporters.
“The fans today were excellent. If there was a protest it was only a handful of people.”
