STEVEN FLETCHER looks set to make Saturday's trip to Leicester City as the Sunderland striker has shaken off an injury picked up in last Friday's Scotland versus Republic of Ireland European Championship qualifier.

Sunderland boss Gus Poyet is delighted the Scotsman will be available for the trip to newly promoted Leicester as Fletcher scored twice in the Wearsiders' last away clash, the 3-1 victory over Crystal Palace earlier this month.

Poyet said: "It was touch and go for a few days but he trained on Thursday and he's alright so we're looking forward to seeing him on the pitch. Ricky Alvarez and Sebastian Coates have trained all week so they're two players back who've not had chance to start their careers here so let's call it a re-start.

"For an hour and a half it wasn't great watching the Scotland v Ireland game and you think the worst when you see Fletcher going off. It's been a matter of waiting just to see if there's been a reaction and thankfully there hasn't been."

Poyet could also turn to USA international Jozy Altidore, who scored last week for his country.

"It's all about how we're going to use him," Poyet added. "For him to be ready is the key, whether that is for 30 minutes, 40 minutes or a full game because we're going to need him and he has to make it difficult for me not to pick him. It's up to him. Sooner or later in football, you have a chance."
