The 21-year-old goalkeeper has failed to break into the Stoke first-team since his £3.5m switch from Birmingham in 2013.
The England international was loaned out to the Championship last season to Leeds and Barnsley, impressing on both spells.
Begovic, 26, currently holds the number one spot at the Britannia Stadium, with Butland open to another loan move in search of regular football.

Leeds are still in the market for another stopper to replace Paddy Kenny, having missed out on their target Heurelho Gomes to Watford.
And the Elland Road side are likely to take advantage of Butland's situation.
"If Asmir stays and I'm not playing, a loan is massively important," he said.
