RYAN GIGGS has been appointed as Manchester United boss on an interim basis, the club have confirmed.
David Moyes was sacked by the club after just 11 months at the helm of Old Trafford.
Reports indicated earlier that Giggs would take charge as caretaker manager until the end of the season.
And the club published a statement on their website confirming the news which read: "Following the departure of David Moyes as manager, Manchester United has announced that Ryan Giggs, the club's most decorated player, will assume responsibility for the first team until a permanent appointment can be made.

"The club will make no further comment on this process until it is concluded."
Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp is thought to have ruled himself out of the vacancy while outgoing Netherlands boss Louis van Gaal is the favourite with the bookmakers.
Giggs now has four games to stake his claim for the post on a full-time basis.
