All trains off for cup final
THOUSANDS of Dundee United and St Johnstone fans are facing travel chaos for the Scottish Cup Final.
Scheduled engineering works on a section of track between Perth and Larbert will see all trains cancelled between Perth, Dundee and Glasgow on May 17.
ScotRail are putting on a replacement bus service.
But with more than 40,000 fans set to travel, the lack of rail services will provide a major headache to travelling supporters.
It will be a huge problem. All those trains would have been packed
A ScotRail spokesman said: “We are contacting the clubs to discuss how we can help Dundee United and St Johnstone football fans travel to and from Glasgow.”
Some Glasgow-bound Aberdeen trains will run via Dundee, but with far longer journey times as they will be re-routed through Fife. A spokesman for St Johnstone fans’ forum We Are Perth said: “It will be a huge problem. All those trains would have been packed.
“You would have thought even well in advance they’d have looked at potential big events in Glasgow that day and planned accordingly.
“Now every fan travelling from Tayside will have to use the road network and there will be significant tailbacks at some junctions.”
