Stop play acting! Luis Suarez urged to cut out antics by Dietmar Hamann
LUIS SUAREZ has been urged to cut out the 'play acting' by former Liverpool and Manchester City star Dietmar Hamann, as he believes referees are fed up with the Uruguayan's antics.
The 27-year-old has gained a growing reputation for going to ground too easily and he was denied what seemed a clear-cut penalty after being bundled in the box by Vincent Kompany.
Suarez also could have picked up a second yellow card after appearing to dive when he collided with Martin Demichelis.
And Hamann believes Suarez needs to change his attitude quickly.
"There is contact [between Suarez and Demichelis] but his antics don't do him any favours," Hamann told talkSPORT. "If [referee] Mark Clattenburg doesn't judge it to be a foul then he should have sent him off.
I don't want to accuse him of diving, because there has been contact, but there was some play-acting
"I don't want to accuse him of diving, because there has been contact, but there was some play-acting.
"That was the reason he didn't get the penalty later on. That was blatant. Kompany had his hands on his chest.
"I don't agree with his antics. He's a fantastic player but, unless someone sends him off for play-acting, [he won't stop]. He's been better recently but against Manchester City he was back to his old tricks."
