Arsene Wenger hits back at Man Utd legend Roy Keane over 'reality check' pop
ARSENE WENGER has hit back at Roy Keane after the Manchester United great slammed his Arsenal stars for celebrating their FA Cup semi-final success against Wigan.
The Gunners were held to a 1-1 draw in extra time and required penalties to see off their stubborn Championship opponents.
Arsenal have a chance of ending their nine-year trophy drought when they face Hull in the final next month, but Keane mocked their victory, saying the players needed a 'reality check'.
But Wenger has defended his players, and admitted they had a right to be 'joyous' after their win.
"Yes when you are 1-0 down," Wenger said.
So of course everybody was happy because we know how difficult it is to turn these games around
"Let's not forget that Wigan won the cup last year, they went to the semi-final this year, they knocked three Premier League teams out, and we were 1-0 down with 10 minutes to go.
"So of course everybody was happy because we know how difficult it is to turn these games around."
Wenger's side turn their attentions back to the Premier League tomorrow evening when they face West Ham (7:45pm).
