Liverpool's Luis Suarez 'hurt the brand’, says Ian Ayre
LUIS SUAREZ’S past caught up with him yesterday as Liverpool admitted that his misdemeanours had damaged the club’s brand.
Hours after Suarez had returned to action in the Capital One Cup defeat by Manchester United on Wednesday following a 10-match ban for biting, managing director Ian Ayre said that the striker’s controversies had hit Liverpool’s world standing.
“Any types of incident of that nature are damaging to a brand, but Liverpool Football Club always will be way bigger than any one player,” said Ayre.
“Nobody is condoning any bad behaviour, but it is just something you have to deal with.”
Ayre also said that no contract talks would take place with Suarez until the end of the season.
